End of the Line

One of my pet projects has reached the end of the line at work. We start working today on the replacement for the Order Wizard I created about six months ago. The original was always meant as a stop gap but it proved doubly useful as both a proof of concept for a future web app and a stop gap measure due to resources availability problems.  It also proved surprisingly flexible, undergoing a significant rewrite in July with a very short time frame.

My Order Wizard was an Excel app intentionally built with no VBA. Everything was internal Excel functionality because too many of our users would have trouble dealing with Excel's macro warnings. The new app will be a web app and I'm looking forward to being out of the development business and having some professional work behind the app!

Still, it's tough seeing your work obsolete after six months.
