Book Review: The Ghost Soldiers

What a great story. Ghost Soldiers covers the US raid that rescued American POW's from the Japanese in WWII. (The movie version is The Great Raid.) Most of the rescued POW's were survivors of the Bataan death march. Why we don't teach this in history is beyond me. It's a rare POW rescue and one of the first successful actions by the US Army's new Rangers.

The book does a good job with the raid. It's a bit long in parts and beats the POW camp experience to death. It was horrifying, we get it, cover it a couple times and go on. All in all though, this is a great book. Highly recommended.
